Rapper Pitbull Headed To Remote Alaska Walmart After Facebook Poll

Rapper Pitbull Exiled To Alaska
Miami-based rapper Pitbull is heading to Kodiak Walmart in Alaska, which is said to be the most remote branch of the retail giant.

This is after pranksters invaded a Facebook poll by Walmart which encouraged its parishioners to "like" the Walmart store they want Pitbull to visit.

Spotting a window of opportunity, David Thorpe and John Hendren of online comedy site Something Awful initiated operation "Exile Pitbull" on Twitter, urging people to vote for Kodiak.

"Pitbull is having a contest where he'll visit the local Walmart that gets the most FB Likes. [Jon Hendren] and I are sending him to Kodiak, Alaska," Thorpe tweeted.

By the time the voting period for the poll closed at 4 p.m. Sunday, the Kodiak Walmart attracted more than 70,000 likes on the page.

On Tuesday, Pitbull posted a video to his official YouTube page announcing, "I heard Kodiak, Alaska has the most likes, due to someone that thinks he was playing a prank."

"What you gotta understand is, I will go anywhere in the world for my fans," he said.

Kodiak Island is about 225 miles southwest of Anchorage. It's home to the nation's largest Coast Guard base, and the island is known for its Kodiak brown bear population.
