'Finding Nemo 2' Confirmed, Andrew Staton Returning As Director

Finding Nemo 2 gets green light!
"Finding Nemo 2" is officially a go!

Original director Andrew Stanton is returning to helm the sequel of the hit animated movie after coming up with a concept that Disney Pixar loves.

The script for "Finding Nemo 2" will be written by Victoria Strouse while Lindsey Collins will produce the movie, which is tentatively scheduled for a 2016 release date.

Featuring the voices of Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres and Willem Dafoe, the 2003 "Finding Nemo" told the story of an over-protective clownfish called Marlin, who enlists the help of forgetful Dory as they search for Marlin's missing son Nemo across the ocean.

The film won the Oscar for Best Animated Picture and was the second highest-grossing film of 2003, behind The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, earning a total of $868 million worldwide.

"Finding Nemo" is also the best-selling DVD of all time, with over 40 million copies sold as of 2006 and was the highest-grossing G-rated film in history, before Disney Pixar's own "Toy Story 3" overtook it.
