Honda Recall 2012: Thousands Of CR-Vs, Acuras Recalled Worldwide Over Faulty Door Locks

Honda Recall 2012
Honda Motor Co. is conducting a voluntary recall of  2012 Honda CR-V SUVs and 2013 Honda Acura ILX sedans to replace faulty door locks.

Honda said that when the manual or power door lock is activated while an interior front door handle is being opened by an occupant, the cable connecting the interior door handle to the door latch mechanism may become loose and move out of position. When this happens, there is a possibility that the cable can move far enough out of position to make the interior door handle inoperable and, in very extreme case, prevent the door from properly latching. If the latter condition occurs, it is possible for a front door to be closed but not fully latched, allowing the door to open while driving.

To date, there have been no crashes or injuries related to this issue but the company said it is carrying out a proactive market action through the conduct of the voluntary recall.

It added that owners of affected vehicles should go to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall. Mailed notification to customers will begin in mid-August 2012.

The said Honda recall affects 321,453 vehicles worldwide.
