CBS SUNDAY MORNING is a favorite TV show at Post Apocalyptic Bohemia, never to be missed, & today’s broadcast appeared to have been produced especially for me. The program featured segments on some of my favorite subjects: Treehouses, Balls, the Beach Boys, Seashells, Rose Wines, & the First Family of the USA.
Balls: I collect orbs. I have hundreds: marbles, croquet, bocce, pool, baseball, globes, bowling, round river rocks.
Treehouses: Want one. The Husband: “All tree houses are forts, but not all forts are tree houses.” The Husband doesn’t know it yet, but he is going to be building a treehouse at Post Apocalyptic Bohemia.
The Beach Boys: More of a Beatles fan & listener of R&B, as a young person I passed on the Beach Boys, except on the radio while riding in a car. As an adult I have become an ardent listener, with God Only Knows placing in my Top 10 Songs of all time. I have been listening to Pet Sounds this endless summer.
Seashells: I am zany for shells when I come upon one. Why don’t I collect shells? Too many other collections? I resolve to start collecting shells. I wonder if I can find a shell today?
Rosé: I have worked as a wine professional, & although I do not cook, I have been employed in restaurants since I was 15 years old. I own up to being a clichéd Portland Foodie. I enjoy rosé in the summer & in the summer only. Icy cold & bone dry, with a strong minerality & bouquet of berries & violets. A Bandol from the Provençal region is perfect. Enjoy a glass on a Sunday morning paired with an Asiago Pressato & spinach omelette.
The Obamas: I love the First Family. I believe Michele is one of the most stunning women in the world & she is a Harvard Law graduate! I remain riled that the conservatives hold up Romney & the Republicans as representative of “family values” when the current occupants of the White House are an exemplary portrait of what a family can & should be- strong equal partners who are both accomplished & supportive of each other, actively involved with their children, & with an adorable dog that does not have to ride on top of an automobile. I still believe in that Hopey- Changey thing.
CBS Sunday Morning also did stories today on kayaking, which I have never done, but very much want to, & on fishing, which I have never done & don't ever need to experience.
