"We’re waiting for the script," Wahlberg told MTV. "Every time I see [Bieber] or Scooter [Braun], I have to explain to them that it’s a bit of a process having the script written."
The actor added: "It certainly [has to be] something that’s good enough to go and have green-lit and make right away, but I think it will be well worth the wait."
According to reports, it will be a basketball movie where Wahlberg plays a weathered basketball player who takes in and trains a younger player (Bieber).
The concept is reportedly a result of producers Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson seeing Bieber play ball last year during a celebrity game held on NBA All Star Game weekend.
"I’m pretty intuitive," Walberg further explained on his decision to cast Bieber as the protégé, "I see the guy and spent time with him, and you see what he does and how he does it, and then you actually have a conversation with him, and it’s there."
