Roy Williams, the head coach of North Carolina men's basketball team, was emotional in his post-game interview Sunday when his team lost to Kansas, 80-67.

"There's no question that this is a time, as a coach, when you hurt," Williams said.

Williams added that he was especially proud for freshman PG Stilman White, who finished with four points, a career-high seven assists and no turnovers in 28 minutes.

"He competed his rear end off," he said. "It's hard to be thrust into this roll with just three practices of notice. But the little rascal hadn't been in this position all year, and he did some great things."

Meanwhile, Stilman said that he would not trade the experience.

"It hurts," he said. "This is a great team with great goals. I don't feel like we quite achieved them, but we played as hard as we could."

Sunday's loss to Kansas in the Midwest championship game marked the second straight year the North Carolina has fallen one game short of a record 19th Final Four appearance in NCAA. They lost to Kentucky last year in the East Regional final in Newark, N.J.

North Carolina's season ended at 32-6.
