American Idol resident comedian Heejun Han gets the boot

"American Idol" contestant Heejun Han
"American Idol" finalist Heejun Han, known for his goofy sense of humor, was eliminated Thursday night from the TV singing competition after receiving the lowest number of votes from the show's viewers and failing to convince the judges to use their single "save" vote for the entire season.

A jokester from the start, Han has left the "Idol" judges wondering whether he is taking things seriously or not. But during the performance night last Wednesday, the 22-year-old nonprofit organizer from New York surprised everyone by singing a heartfelt rendition of Donny Hathaway's "A Song For You." The judges concurred it was his best performance yet. However, as stated above it was later revealed it was his last as well.

Han share the bottom three spots with Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine.

During Thursday's results show, rapper Nicki Minaj performed "Starships" while Season 10 "Idol" winner Scotty McCreery sang his new single "Water Tower Town."

Han's departure leaves eight contestants remaining. The Top 8 will be performing again next week. They will be mentored by No Doubt's Gwen Stefani & Tony Kanal.
