The government will soon reward P100,000 to senior citizens who reach the age of 100, if this new bill becomes a law.
The House of Representatives has just passed House Bill 834, otherwise known as "The Centenarians Act of 2012," that will give P100,000 cash gift to Filipino centenarians in the Philippines and abroad.
"Living to be a centenarian, or three decades past the life expectancy is therefore an achievement and a distinction worthy of emulation and public recognition," Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman, the principal author of the bill, told the Manila Bulletin.
The bill, which also entitles centenarians of 50% discount in many services, declares September 25 as as "National Respect for Centenarians Day."
Do you think you would reach that age?
