Xbox 360 tops console sales |
According to Microsoft, it sold 8.2 million units of Xbox 360 during the holiday quarter, beating Sony PlayStation 3's 6.5 million and Nintendo Wii's 5.6 million units for the same quarter.
It is reportedly the first time that the Xbox 360 has led the worldwide holiday sales since 2006.
The strong holiday sales of Xbox 360 also put it ahead in worldwide sales for 2011, with a total of 14.9 million units sold for the entire year, compared with 14.1 million for the Sony console and 10.33 million for Nintendo's - also the first time the Microsoft console led the global console market for a full year.
Cumulatively, however, Nintendo is still reigning the current console generation, with around 95 million units sold worldwide, compared with 66 million Xbox 360s and 62 million Ps3s.
