Whitney Houston dead at 48 |
The legendary pop singer was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. (6:55 p.m. E.T.) at the Beverly Hilton hotel despite efforts of the paramedics to resuscitate her, according to a police spokesperson.
The police said there were “no obvious signs of criminal intent” and that the cause of her death is being investigated.
According to the Guinness World Records, Whitney Houston was the most awarded female act of all time. Throughout her career she had received 2 Emmy Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010.
Having sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide, Houston was also one of the world's best-selling music artists in history.
