Angry Birds launched on Facebook |
The popular multi-platform game was launched on the social networking site on Valentine's Day.
"This launch is just the beginning for Angry Birds on Facebook," said Petri Järvilehto of game developer Rovio Mobile. "We have great new features and gameplay lined up for the fans in the upcoming weeks. Angry Birds on Facebook will offer a unique experience for our fans, and we’re really excited to finally be on the platform."
Facebook users can now play the game with new exclusive levels, virtual prizes and the ability to send free gifts to friends and compete for high scores.
"With the brand-new social features for Angry Birds on Facebook, fans can compete with their friends, brag about their scores, and earn coveted gold, silver, and bronze crowns for the top three scores in any level. Fans can also give their Facebook friends 'mystery gifts' of power-ups." Rovio said in a press release.
It added, "Angry Birds on Facebook has great new power-ups to help pop even the peskiest piggy. Fans can earn power-ups by playing the game, receiving them as a 'mystery gift' from a friend, or purchasing them."
Rovio is giving out 14 free power-ups to anyone who plays the game on Facebook from February 14-16.
Since its release for Apple devices on December 2009, the addictive game has reportedly been downloaded for more than 700 million times already and with Facebook’s 800 million users, it is projected to hit 1 billion soon.
