Mark Zuckerberg Sued By Shareholders Over Facebook IPO

Mark Zuckerberg sued
Mark Zuckerberg has been sued by Facebook shareholders over the company's disastrous IPO.

Zuckerberg and a number of banks have been accused of not informing the wider public of worsening revenue forecasts.

The lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan over a week ago, also names Facebook, Silicon Valley investors Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Barclays Capital as defendants. It states: "The true facts at the time of the IPO were that Facebook was then experiencing a severe and pronounced reduction in revenue growth due to an increase of users of its Facebook app or website through mobile devices rather than a traditional PC such that the company told the underwriter defendants to materially lower their revenue forecasts for 2012."

The "revisions were material information which was not shared with all Facebook investors, but rather, was selectively disclosed by defendants to certain preferred investors and omitted from the registration statement and/or prospectus," the plaintiffs claim.

In response to the legal action, a Facebook spokesperson said, "We believe the lawsuit is without merit and will defend ourselves vigorously."

Mark Zuckerberg became one of the richest people in the world at the age of 28 when Facebook started trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market last May 18. But the shares of his company was reportedly down 27 percent since going public.

The One That Got Away

Adrian Benipayo holding a photo of Gladys
This story was featured on "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," on February 11, 2012. The show covered their suppose meet-up but sadly, the girl did not show up. It appears that she has a boyfriend already.

Read below Adrian Benipayo's story, which became viral on Facebook the past few days:
They say that you only come across two of the most important persons in your life: The One That Got Away, and, The One Who Found Its Way.

This is the story…

My name is Adrian Benipayo. I graduated from San Beda College Alabang. I’m a simple man with simple dreams. I don’t get into relationships as much as I should do. You see, I was raised by a conservative family. My life was pretty much ordinary. That was until the summer of 2004.

It was one May afternoon that I met this amazing girl who turned my life around. It was the first day of my summer class. As I head towards the entrance of ABS-CBN, I saw this simple, elegant woman standing near the door as she waits for the class to start. There she was patiently waiting while wearing that sweet and beautiful smile. Her name is Gladys. We were batch mates at the Star Magic workshop and went to voice class together. She is very talented. She has a voice of an angel and I must say that we connected immediately. We made great music together and that’s why I instantly fell in love with her.

We went out even after our classes had finished. She was the only one I ever introduced to my entire family. Every time I’m with her it seems like no one is around. As cliché as it may sound, it was heaven being with her.

For some unavoidable reasons, we have to part ways. The sad part is that there was no closure. No goodbyes. Not even thank yous. Our communication stopped abruptly. After a while, I tried to move on. I thought I've moved on. I've been in relationships afterwards but nothing lasted. I just realized that that's because I was left hanging on this one. I tried looking for her, searched Facebook and other social media sites but I can't find her. I asked old friends but they also lost contact with her.

She is my first true love. I don't know where she is right now and how she's been doing but I am willing to take chances, just to find her. I don't know if she is married (I don't have the intention of breaking any relationships in here if there are any). I don't know if we are still able to get back together. I’m clueless and that’s why I just have to do this. I am not expecting anything but to see her and to talk to her.

This is just something that I have to do even if it might be too late. I don't want to live my life with regrets. Life is too short. I need to find out if she is or isn't the "One Who Got Away". Happy or not, I don't want our love story left open-ended. After all, she is my first love.

I need your help in finding her. Please Like this post if you’ve found your first and true love or still hoping to find that someone special. And more importantly, kindly REPOST and SHARE this until it reaches someone who knows her. And if you happen to know her, please tell her that I will be waiting in the first place we've met.

I will be waiting for her at the ABS-CBN ELJ Entrance at exactly 7 in the evening on February 11th. I need to see her and be able to talk to her.

Thank you for your time in reading this and helping me find her. I will forever be grateful for your help.

Teens and Facebook: Positive and Negative Effects

Teens and Facebook: Positive and Negative Effects

Facebook and other social networking sites can have harmful effects on teens according to a recent study.

Harmful Effects of Facebook on Teens

Dr. Larry Rosen, a Psychology professor at California State University, outlined his findings before the American Psychological Association over the weekend.

“While nobody can deny that Facebook has altered the landscape of social interaction, particularly among young people, we are just now starting to see solid psychological research demonstrating both the positives and the negatives,” said Rosen.

Here are negative effects of Facebook on kids according to Rosen:

1. Teens who are heavy gamers or Facebook users have more trouble sleeping, higher levels of anxiety, depression, and stomach aches.

2. Young adults and teens who spend their days inside Facebook are more narcissistic and show more signs of other psychological disorders, including antisocial behaviors, mania, and aggressive tendencies.

3. Students who use more technology are likely to miss more school.

4. The more teens and adults use Facebook, the more likely they are to also use alcohol.

5. Students from junior high through college age were observed to generally check social networks or text messages every few minutes while studying, leading to lower test performance than students who focus for longer periods of time.

6. The average teen sends 2000 texts per month, which can lead to problems communicating with family and even carpal tunnel syndrome in a few cases.
Rosen also laid out the following positive influences linked to social networking:

1. Young adults who spend more time on Facebook are better at showing “virtual empathy” to their online friends.

2. Online social networking can help introverted adolescents learn how to socialize behind the safety of various screens, ranging from a two-inch smartphone to a 17-inch laptop.

3. Social networking can provide tools for teaching in compelling ways that engage young students.
“If you feel that you have to use some sort of computer program to surreptitiously monitor your child's social networking, you are wasting your time. Your child will find a workaround in a matter of minutes,” he said. “You have to start talking about appropriate technology use early and often and build trust, so that when there is a problem, whether it is being bullied or seeing a disturbing image, your child will talk to you about it.” Rosen advises parents.
