The 1st Harry Connick Jr. album I bought was in 1986 & he was just 21 years old. I didn’t know what a great crooner he was, or that he was such a hottie. The album- Harry Connick Jr. was an instrumental piano album of jazz standards. I was captivated. I have been a fan ever since, but I am glad that his managers & record label figured out to put his baritone voice front & center. He is multi-talented to say the least: a composer & arranger, singer, film actor & Broadway star. He has won 3 Grammy & an Emmy & has received 3 Tony nominations. Harry had a great story arc for several seasons on Will & Grace.
Connick has given a great deal of time, energy & money to help with the recovery of his hometown of New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He is a founder of the Krewe of Orpheus, a music-based New Orleans krewe ( the individual organizations that make up the Mari Gras festival, taking its name from Orpheus of classical mythology. The Krewe of Orpheus parades on St. Charles Avenue & Canal Street in on Lundi Gras (Fat Monday) — the day before Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday). On September 2, 2005, Harry Connick, Jr., helped to organize, & appeared in, the NBC sponsored live telethon concert, A Concert for Hurricane Relief, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He spent several days touring the city to draw attention to the plight of citizens stranded at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center & other places. At the concert he paired with host & fellow hottie- Matt Lauer, & entertainers including Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Kanye West, & John Goodman. On September 6, 2005, Connick was made honorary chair of Habitat for Humanity’s “Operation Home Delivery,” a long-term rebuilding plan for families victimized by Hurricane Katrina in the Big Easy and along the Gulf Coast .Connick's album Oh, My NOLA, and Chanson du Vieux CarrĂ© were released in 2007, with a following tour called the My New Orleans Tour. I dig his good looks, sexy baritone & he seems like an all around good guy. Here is doing a Burt Bacharach cover:
