Here are 3 ladies loaded with talent & they each have worked on stage, film & they really made their mark on TV. I am a fan of the entire birthday girl trio.
Jane Curtin was an original cast member of Saturday Night Live, won back to back Emmy’s for Kate & Allie & starred on the funny 3rd Rock From The Sun. She recently was on Broadway with Paul Newman in Our Town. You have got to love a funny lady who was so convincing as a Conehead.
Jo Anne Worley was famous for her work as an original cast member of Laugh-In. Oh, those crazy 60s! She is always remembered for her loud brassy voice. Jo Anne was the original understudy for Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly!. I saw her do Mame in Summer stock & she was very, very good in the title role. At 72 years old, she continues to work in theatre & has done a great deal of voice-over work for animated films including Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. She recently appeared on Broadway in Wicked & The Drowsy Chaperon.
Swoosie Kurtz first got my attention with a bright but small role in The World According To Garp (a great film from 1982). I loved her work in Dangerous Liaisons (1988), The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom (1993), Citizen Ruth (1996) & her amazing turn on the underrated Showtime series-Huff. Swoosie has won 2 Tonys & an Emmy. She is adept at drama & comedy & musicals. She most recently starred in the ABC television series, Pushing Daisies as Lily Charles.
