Ebe Dancel, former frontman of Sugarfree and now traversing the music world going solo under Warner Music Philippines, is a winner. We‟ve always known that fact with his hit-making days with Sugarfree with smash singles as “Hari ng Sablay”, “Telepono”, “Mariposa” and “Kwarto”.

His vocals and sensitive, relevant lyrics always resonated with the common Filipino. And it should come as no surprise that his interpretation of Filipino composer Toto Sorioso‟s Tayo-tayo Lang bagged 2nd place at the first ever Philippine Popular Music Festival, an event which is a project of Overall Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan and Organizing Committee Chairman Ricky Vargas, and their collective will to help the Philippine music industry. The top prize went to Karl Villuga‟s Bawat Hakbang which was interpreted by Mark Bautista and Akafellas.

This event aims to promote the talent of Filipino songwriting, and that is an arena which Ebe Dancel is no stranger to, with hits and compositions as a solo artist such as “Paalam Kahapon” and other hits “Hanggang sa Dulo” and “Muli”. “I‟m all for Philpop and finding the best songwriters out there. Toto is a great guy. We‟re thinking about working together on a song soon. The song „Tayo-tayo Lang’ speaks about struggling musician. I can relate because I‟ve been there.” shares Ebe.

Madonna Enjoys Joyride In 'Turn Up The Radio' Video

Veteran pop singer Madonna has unveiled today the music video for her single "Turn Up the Radio."

In the video, the Queen of Pop is seen cruising around the streets of Florence, Italy, picking up strangers to join her Cadillac shindig. The "Material Girl" singer smiles, shimmies and fist-pumps her way through the video, looking like she's truly living la dolce vita.

The summery track is lifted from the music icon's MDNA album, her twelfth studio album.

Meanwhile, France's far-right National Front is reportedly planning to file a lawsuit against Madonna after the singer screened video footage of party leader Marine Le Pen with a swastika superimposed on her forehead at a concert in Paris on Saturday. A BBC report said that the lawsuit "would be filed this week."

6Cyclemind Moves Forward

6cyclemind sure have come a long way since their inception in early 2000.

With five successful full-length albums (2003’s Permission To Shine, 2005’s Panorama, 2007’s Home and Fiesta, and 2009’s Project: 6cyclemind) and over a dozen memorable radio singles to their name including such anthems as “Biglaan,” “Sandalan,” “Magsasaya,” “Aaminin,” “Kasalanan,” and the ultimate paean to countless late night drinking sessions, “Sige,” these proven hitmakers have already cemented their place in OPM's rich musical history.

Until the unexpected happened. Ney Dimaculangan, the lead singer of the group suddenly left the group, citing burnout. The band was caught in a dilemma, the question foremost in their mind being: should they quite it or continue? Thankfully they decided on the latter, forging onwards with drummer Tutti Caringal stepping front and center to sing.

 It worked!

The fans welcomed the change. And the gigs kept coming, and the fresh, new incarnation of 6cyclemind was able to further endear itself to their loyal followers. But recording a new album is a different matter altogether.
Wanting to reintroduce themselves as a brand new band with a brand new sound, 6cyclemind did not want to rely on the old formulas and the usual routines. But the question is, how will they go about it?

Enter Raimund Marasigan, who, having lost the vocalist of his band Sandwich prior in a similar situation, shared the trepidation of the group. He went on to urge the band to soldier on going on to produce and play drums on the new record. And so it was that both band and producer joined forces, wasting no time working on the songs they had ready with Buddy Zabala and Jessie Grinter joining in to tackle the challenge.

According to the band, it was like going back to their first day in college, not knowing anything and being completely out of their comfort zones.  The resulting 11-track album, Good By Sunday, is a revelation. The most obvious change, of course, is the singing, but it is evident in the album’s overall sound that this is a different 6cyclemind altogether.

As Bob himself described it, As Bob himself described it, Good By Sunday sounds quite unlike the 6cyclemind of old -- they stepped up their game and sounded reinvigorated, more mature and confident"

“We think Good by sunday is a good title of an album aside from the fact that it is the only English track in the album. With Regard to the other album, Well good by sunday is totally different. This is the new 6cyclemind music. No one can duplicate the others. Every song here defines the new music of 6cyclemind.from track 1 to 11. it's totally new!”

The rest of the band including guitarists Rye Sarmiento and Herbert Hernandez, and even songwriter/manager Darwin Hernandez couldn’t help but agree inasmuch as they deem the result a product of the band's continued maturity and growth. It has been s a wonderful journey for the group through the years as more fans relate to their music. There is only one secret to the 6CM success and that is their fan base that continues to expand. “Basta Ikaw,” the CD’s carrier song is currently number one in MYX OPM countdown .Now, with former Protein Shake drummer Vic Aquino officially welcomed into the fold, 6cyclemind version 2.0 is ready to roll and bring their new sound and live show to wherever there’s an audience eager to experience them.

Just recently, the band signed on as brand endorsers of Suzuki in the Philippines, eager as they are to go on the road for the rest of 2012 and beyond, with over thirty live dates already scheduled in key cities and provinces throughout the country.

Truly, for 6cyclemind, the future looks only too bright.

'Don't Wake Me Up' Music Video: Chris Brown Chases Dream Girl In New Visual

The music video for Chris Brown's new single "Don't Wake Me Up" has been released.

In the video directed by Colin Tilley, Chris Brown dreams about the woman he loves, played by model Arya Nicks, as he chases her through various terrains while he sings.

"Too much light in this window/Don't wake me up/Only coffee no sugar inside my cup/If i wake and you here still give me a kiss/I wasnt finished dreamin about your lips," so the "Kiss Kiss" singer sings in the verse before spitting, "Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up," in the chorus.

"Don't Wake Me Up" is the fourth single from the singer's upcoming fifth studio album "Fortune," which will be out in July 3rd.

Following the digital release of the dance-pop track last May 18th, it peaked within the top-ten of the singles charts in Australia and New Zealand, and reached the top-twenty in Denmark has so far peaked at number 89 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The 2012 CMT Music Awards were held on Wednesday night at the Bridgestone Arena. It was hosted by Toby Keith and Kristen Bell.

Carrie Underwood was revealed as this year's big winner, taking home 2 awards including the coveted "Video Of The Year" for "Good Girl," as well as the "Collaborative Video of the Year Award" alongside Brad Paisley, for the song "Remind Me."

The "American Idol" winner, however, failed to bag her third nomination, the "Female Video of the Year," which went to Miranda Lambert for her song, "Over You."

Luke Bryan was presented the "Male Video of the Year" for his "Drunk On You" while Lady Antebellum won the "Group Video of the Year" for their single "We Owned The Night."

Meanwhile, another "Idol" champ claimed the "USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year" award in the person of Scotty McCreery for "The Trouble With Girls."

Completing the list of winners are Thompson Square's "I Got You" which won the "Duo Video of the Year" and Jason Aldean who was awarded the "CMT Performance of the Year" for "Tattoos On This Town."

This year's ceremony featured performances by Willie Nelson, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Luke Bryan, Zac Brown Band, The Band Perry, among others.

The CMT Music Awards is a fan-voted awards show for country music videos and television performances.

Coldplay And Rihanna's 'Pincess Of China' Music Video Leaks

The music video of "Pincess Of China," the product of the latest collaboration of Coldplay and Rihanna, is scheduled to be released on Monday but the visual has made its way online Saturday.

The MV leaked on Twitvid the same day Rihanna posted on Facebook some behind-the-scenes photos.

Directed by Adria Petty & Alan Bibby, the video was filmed last March at the Taiko Center in Los Angeles. Rihanna described her look in the video as "gangsta goth geisha."

Adam Lambert Debuts 'Never Close Your Eyes' Music Video

Adam Lambert has released the music video of his single "Never Close Your Eyes."

In the sci-fi-inspired visual, the "American Idol" runner-up can be seen in a futuristic medical facility where everybody completes the same dull tasks, but manages to lead a revolt and escape the complex.

Lambert had earlier revealed what his intent in the song and its video was.

"What I was trying to say with this, no matter what comes your way, if you make a decision to just look at things a different way, and just flip your perception a little bit, maybe it's not so bad. Maybe it does get better if you want it to."

 "Never Close Your Eyes" is the second single off the singer's sophomore's album, "Tresspassing." Its tuned was penned by Bruno Mars and produced by Dr. Luke and Cirkut.

Lambert recently made history after his "Tresspasing" album debuted no. 1 on Billboard Hot 200, making him the first openly gay male artist to score the first spot on the chart.

Kylie Minogue Unleashes 'Timebomb' Single, Music Video

Kylie Minogue has unveiled her newest single entitled "Timebomb" on Friday.

The international pop superstar also revealed the song's music video on the same day. Her website earlier had a countdown which encouraged fans to tweet the hashtag #kylietimebomb to 'unlock' the song and its accompanying visuals.

Directed by Christian Larson, the video was reportedly shot in the busy streets of Soho, London last month.

The single, which will be part of Minogue's upcoming greatest hits compilation "K25,"  is now available on iTunes.

The Australian songstress is also set to perform "Timebomb" on the semi-finals of "The Voice" on BBC1 on Sunday.

Boyce Avenue Member Wears Philippine Shirt In New Video

Boyce Avenue released a new video on their popular Youtube channel over the weekend. The music clip features the band's awesome acoustic cover of Fun.'s hit "We Are Young."

Aside from his amazing vocals, Noypi fans of the group were also delighted to see frontman Alejandro Manzano wearing a tee with a "Philippines" print inspired by the LA Dodgers logo.

Does this mean that the band is cooking another Philippine tour? It would be cool, right?

The group came to the Philippines in 2010 for a couple of concerts, which also showcased "America’s Best Dance Crew" champions Jabbawockeez and "American Idol" winner Kris Allen.

Composed of brothers Alejandro, Daniel and Fabian Manzano,  Boyce Avenue is known for their cover versions of hits songs and some originals on Youtube. Their videos have attracted more than 630 million views, as of posting time.

The winners of the Billboard Music Awards 2012 have been revealed on Sunday, May 20, during a star-studded ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

This year's big winner is no other than Adele, who took home a total of 12 awards including "Top Artist" and "Top Billboard 200 Album."  LMFAO came in second with 6 awards, followed by Coldplay and Lil Wayne who both earned four BBMAs.

Casting Crowns, Jason Aldean and Lady Gaga each received two awards while Lady Antebellum, Shakira, Wiz Khalifa, Beyonce, Foster the People and Nicki Minaj are among the artists who each won one award.

Hosted by "Modern Family" stars Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, the 2012 Billboard Music Awards featured performances by John Legend and Jordin Sparks, Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Chris Brown, Usher, among others.

The Last Dance Never Ends...

When asked about the potentially limiting moniker of "Queen of Disco," the late Donna Summer shrugged and quipped, "It's nice to be the queen of something!"

And while Summer -- who won four Grammys in the R&B, Rock and Gospel categories before her fifth and final win for Dance -- undoubtedly felt that her creativity was sometimes stifled by the public's refusal to let her put her boogie woogie dancing shoes to bed, her undisputed reign over an entire genre of music must have been as gratifying as it was frustrating.

Stretching out from the disco to the speakeasy: Donna Summer's famous "My Man Medley"

Even distilling Summer's catalog to only her five year disco heyday of 1975 to 1980 reveals a surprising depth and versatility: the chocolate box sex-and-soul epic, "Love to Love You Baby"; the still-stunning, revolutionary, mother of all house, techno and electronica to follow, "I Feel Love"; the Broadway-esque sweep of "Last Dance"; the ingenious expansion of "MacArthur Park" from baroque pop to disco suite; the strutting funk of "Bad Girls"; the groundbreaking rock-disco mashup that is still "Hot Stuff"; the pop perfection of "On the Radio"; the New Wave-meets-rockabilly slickness of "The Wanderer."

When disco imploded overnight, Summer was one of the few artists inextricably tied to it who escaped relatively unscathed, at least initially. However, the next decade was dodgier in terms of commercial success, partially due to, and partially resulting in, Summer's startling left turns and defiance of expectations. The biggest hits -- "She Works Hard for the Money" (1983) and "This Time I Know it's for Real" (1989) -- both recalled her glory days under the disco ball, but Summer's more interesting experiments encompassed everything from world music influences (a stirring cover of Vangelis' "State of Independence") and Caribbean rhythms ("Unconditional Love") to full-on, Springsteen-endorsed rock and roll ("Protection"), slick electro-funk ("Eyes"), and Quiet Storm balladry ("Fascination"). She also revealed her Broadway bent with the inclusion of such material as "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Send in the Clowns" and "The Impossible Dream" in her live act; and in 1984, Summer even made a bow at the Oscars at Barbra Streisand's behest, singing her former duet partner's nominated song from Yentl, "Papa, Can You Hear Me."

By the dawn of the 1990's, Donna Summer was still a familiar name, but not necessarily a viable chart contender. But a funny thing happened on the way to the nostalgia circuit: disco, long declared dead, suddenly became hip. And if Summer never quite regained her status as a bona fide hitmaker, she earned something even more important: respect. It became okay to like -- heck, love -- Donna Summer, and not as a guilty pleasure, either; but to actually appreciate the power and elasticity of her voice (which, astonishingly, grew instead of diminishing with age), her unheralded songwriting abilities (including many of her biggest hits, as well as Dolly Parton's #1 country hit, "Starting Over Again"), and the genius of her very best recordings.

For a few golden moments, Donna Summer was the biggest female pop star on the planet, and she rode the inevitable ebb and flow which followed with admirable grace. We saw Summer in concert a half-dozen times during the 1990's and early 00's, and we were continually impressed by her absolutely pitch-perfect vocals, her surprisingly dry and quirky humor, and her appreciation for her fans. She provided the soundtrack for an entire generation, and then some -- a regal legacy, indeed.

Justin Bieber released Friday a new single in time for Mother's Day. The song, titled "Turn To You," is of course dedicated to Justin's mom, Pattie Mallette.

"Turn To You" is about Pattie's struggle as a single parent. She became pregnant at the age of 18 and raised Justin on her own.

"You worked two jobs/ To keep a roof above our heads/ You chose/ A life for me no you never gave up/ I admire you/ For the strength you’ve instilled in me," Justin sings on the track.

According to the teen sensation, all of the song's proceeds will go to moms in need of help.

du·ra·ble: adj. able to exist for a long time without significant deterioration; also: Marilyn Maye.

Perhaps it's unflattering, at first glance, to use an adjective more commonly applied to equipment (tires, say) when describing a woman of great talent, beauty and charm. But how else can you describe a phenomenal performer who, near the middle of her eighth decade, still can hit and sustain notes that would give most singers half her age, or younger, stomach cramps? Instead of steel-belted radials, Marilyn Maye has steel-belted vocal cords. We're secretly convinced that, tucked away in a box in her attic, Dorian Gray-style, there is Marilyn Maye's alternate, shriveled larynx.

But what's on public display at Feinstein's at Loew's Regency, through May 5, is an astonishing display of artistry and, yes, durability. When Maye takes the stage to a frantic arrangement of "Make Your Own Kind of Music" -- yes, that "Make Your Own Kind of Music"! -- she somehow turns a bubblegum teenybopper tune into a jazz barnstormer (ingeniously coupled with Vincent Youman's "Without a Song" -- as Charles Busch once remarked to Maye, "You sure love a good medley!") that sizzles and pops with her rafter-shaking vocals, Billy Stritch's dextrous piano accompaniment, Tom Hubbard's nimble bass, and most especially, Jim Eckloff's firecracker drumming. Incidentally, Maye first recorded "Make Your Own Kind of Music" for her modestly-titled 1970 RCA album, Girl Singer, in a more-or-less straightforward arrangement that closely mirrored the Mama Cass hit. It would have been fairly easy and less taxing for Maye to simply trot out her old charts and do the song "straight." It's a credit to her always-forward thinking mind and ethos that she can take material she's been doing for years, and still find new ways to interpret and arrange it.

Billed as "The Happiest Sound in Town" (after the title track to another RCA album -- one with the succinct, now-famous liner blurb by Johnny Carson: "Let's call her Super Singer!"), Maye's current repertoire is understandably heavy on the "up" tunes. From the beginning of her recording career, Maye's warmth, good humor and powerful pipes made her the natural choice to debut such flag-waving fare as "Cabaret" (the first ever recording of that song, released before the show's Broadway opening, and certainly long before the movie version; "And she knows it, too," Marilyn will quip wryly) and "Step to the Rear" (from How Now, Dow Jones, and then later turned into a lucrative jingle for Lincoln-Mercury). At Feinstein's, Maye includes some fan favorites from those glory days of Broadway and film themes, such as "You're Gonna Hear from Me" from the Natalie Wood/Robert Redford film, Inside Daisy Clover (1965); and "Golden Rainbow," from Steve and Eydie's Broadway vehicle of the same name. The only unfortunate casualty of all of this hale and hearty happiness are the blues and ballads that Maye can make such a meal of. Anyone who has heard Maye vamp her way through "Just for a Thrill" or "Blues in the Night," or turn "Something Cool" and "Guess Who I Saw Today" into harrowing, one-woman mini-dramas, can't help but wish that she could have included more of that type of material in the current show.

So when Maye's creamy tones envelop one of the few ballads in the program, Burton Lane and Alan Jay Lerner's magnificently romantic "Too Late Now" (her 1966 recording of which is ensconced at the Smithsonian in their collection of definitive recordings of the Great American Songbook), it's like milk and honey bathing your ears. And when she flips the coin on that relationship, with the quintessential late 1950's cabaret downer, "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most," Maye practically gives a master class in the art of torch singing.

But at this stage in the game, one can't blame Marilyn Maye for being, well, happy. She looks and sounds magnificent, with little sign of slowing down, let alone stopping. And when the marvelous Marilyn Maye executes her awe-inspiring high kicks during her signature finale, Jerry Herman's "It's Today" from Mame, it's difficult to argue with the notion that you are, indeed, part of the happiest sound in town.

Drake, Rihanna unleash 'Take Care' music video

The music video for Drake and Rihanna's "Take Care" has finally premiered. Check it out below:


"Take Care" is the career single of Drake's second studio album of the same name. It debuted at number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart upon its release. It has received as platinum certification from Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for  exceeding 1,000,000 copies in the US.

Directed by Yoann Lemoine, its music video was earlier reported to be released on March 23, however due to delay in editing, it was postponed.

"It had to go through a process – I shot it with a director who's incredible and we were just very specific about it," Drake told CapitalFM. "It's a big record and a lot of footage. It's very artistic very abstract video – something that I wasn't used to."

Drake added: "I'm usually used to a very straight forward concept so I'm really excited for people to see it because it's actually just something beautiful to look at. There's actually for once no story necessarily as far as there being a narrative like 'What's My Name?' or 'We Found Love' where there's stories. This is just beautiful imagery. We have it where it needs to be now......Rihanna has signed off on it and she loves it".

In a separate interview, Rihanna said: "I can't wait to see what all my fans think, I saw it a couple of days a go, I love it. It's beautiful, It's different from anything Drake has ever done"

Justin Bieber previews 'Boyfriend' music video

Justin Bieber has released a 20-second sneak peek of the visual of his new single "Boyfriend." Check out the teaser of Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" below:


While its release date has not been announced, Justin had revealed that the music video doesn't have a "steady concept."

He added that it mostly features artistic shots and fans can expect to see his suave dance moves on the music video.

"It's kind of like bouncing back and forth. And then there's scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It's fun."

"Boyfriend" is the first single from Justin's upcoming third studio album, "Believe."

Produced by Mike Posner and Mason Levy, the song was released last March 26. It reached the top position on iTunes Charts just a few hours after its release.
