Rudy Eugene identified as Miami's face-eating man

Rudy Eugene is the name of the man shot dead by the police after refusing to stop eating the face of another man on a downtown Miami highway ramp on Saturday afternoon.

Eugene, 31, was found chewing parts of a man's face and reportedly growled when an officer told him to stop. Police then shot and killed Eugene after attempting to stop the assault. The victim, who has not been identified, is in critical condition at the Jackson Memorial Hospital.

One witness described the things he saw as a scene out of the zombie apocalypse series, "The Walking Dead."

Police believe Eugene had taken LSD or other synthetic drugs prior to the attack

According to reports, Eugene, who was from North Miami Beach, had been arrested eight times since he was 16, including four instances involving marijuana, one for a battery charge which was later dropped, one for vending near a school, another one for trespassing,  and one for misdemeanor battery.

Eugene was married to his ex-wife for a year and a half before filing a divorce in 2007.

"I wouldn't say he had mental problem but he always felt like people was against him type of attitude. No one was for him, everyone was against him," Eugene's ex-wife told WPLG.
