'Les Miserables' Movie Trailer: Anne Hathaway Sings 'I Dreamed A Dream'

The first teaser trailer of the highly anticipated movie adaptation of the hit stage musical and Victor Hugo novel, "Les Misrables," has been released.

In the video, Anne Hathaway, who cut her hair short and lost a significant amount of weight for her role as Fantine, can be seen singing her heart out her rendition of the classic "I Dreamed A Dream" against a moody backdrop of 19th century France.

The preview also shows the characters of Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Russell Crowe (Inspector Javert), Amanda Seyfried (Cosette), and Eddie Redmayne (Marius).

Directed by , "Les Miserables" is set for cinema release on December 14.

In case you're not familiar with the play/novel, the story follows the struggles of French people living in poverty in the 1800s.

"Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption—a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Ex-prisoner Jean Valjean is being hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert  after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever."
