Jason Statham receives a 100 on the Steve-Sex-O-Meter. Check Out the very underrated- The Italian Job, a taut & witty heist thriller from 2003 & see if you don't agree. He celebrates his 38th Birthday today. This means that I am old enough to be his father, but not too old to be his Daddy.

Happy Birthday, Jason Statham
What is the possible significance of having a Filmography that includes titles: Crank, Chaos, Collateral, & Snatch?

Men I Am Zany for #12
I love the actors from the United Kingdom. Wales (Timothy Dalton), Scotland (Sean Connery), Northern Ireland (Liam Neeson), & England (Daniel Craig).. .they just know how to make them sexy, smart, accomplished & with accents! Today I offer 3 of my favorites.
Jude Law is currently on Broadway as the Prince of Denmark. My favorite performance- The Talented Mr. Ripley.
I first noticed Alan Rickman in Die Hard. My favorite performance was in Love Actually. I hear he is in some film franchise with Harry Potter in the title.
I heart Ewan McGregor! Currently seen in The Men Who Stare At Goats with my secret lover- George Clooney. The Husband & I just caught Trainspotting again. Brilliant! My favorite performance would have to be Moulin Rouge.

Film Theory 101

I have posted before about my theory that mediocre Rom-Coms, no matter how awful the premise, can be worth catching on cable because of the ubiquitous yummy shirtless male actors. Slated for early 2010 release, The Back-Up Plan sounds just riddled with cliches: “A romantic comedy centered on a woman who conceives twins through artificial insemination, only to meet the man of her dreams on the very same day”. Even worse, it stars 11 time Oscar nominated actress & first lady of the American Theatre- Jennifer Lopez! But somehow I know when it is available “on demand” through the evil Comcast, I will be putting out my $3.95 because of Aussie actor- Alex O’Loughlin’s stunning acting chops.

deeply embedded in a mediocre movie, you might find a very pleasant surprise

Light, frothy Romantic Comedies starring Sandra Bullock (has she made a worthy film since Speed?) would never seem to be my cup of tea. They are usually last resort viewing on an airplane or a stoned out late night channel surfing binge through the offerings by the evil Comcast. The entire Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Meg Ryan sub-genre is often just irksome to me. Many movies that I have really actually detested are in this group: You've Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, 27 Dresses, The Wedding Planner, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous... they give me a stomach ache & a headache. Sometimes these films will have some redeeming male co-star nudity: Chris Meloni in Runaway Bride, Dermot Mulroney in The Wedding Date, Gerard Butler in P.S., I Love You, have made the getting through these films quite bearable. That is why, someday when I chance upon The Proposal (opening this weekend) with Sandra Bullock & Ryan Reynolds ( a very fine actor, really), this is why I will muddle through it. I am a sucker for a pic of a boy & his dog!
