Michael Kors and Lance LePere marry

Michael Kors and Lance LePere are husband and husband. The couple wed on Tuesday in Southampton, N.Y. The private ceremony on Dune Beach was officiated by Mark Epley, the mayor of Southampton.

In a statement, Michael said, "To marry someone as wonderful and special to me as Lance barefoot on a glorious beach is more than I could have dreamed of."

The couple, who met in 1990, when Lance worked as an intern for Michael's company, had announced earlier this month that they were planning a wedding.

On Wednesday Michael Kors and Lance LePere obtained a marriage license in New York City. The famed designer says, "Lance and I are very excited to finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state after many years together."

This June the bill legalizing same-sex marriage came through in the state of New York. Michael, 51, and Lance aren't planning on a big wedding. "We have no plans for a major party, but we will be getting married privately."
