"The Expendables 2" remained at the top spot of the box office race this weekend.

Based on estimates, the star-studded action flick raked in $13 million in North America on its second week, leading a weak box office week.

Now on its third week, "The Bourne Legacy" took the second spot with $9.5 million, followed by the 2-week old "ParaNorman" with $8.7 million.

Weekend Box Office Results: 'Expendables 2' Knocks Out Competition

"The Expendables 2" debuted at number 1 this weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. The star-studded action movie raked in $28.75 million.

"The Bourne Legacy," which took the top spot last weekend, is now second with $17.02 million while 3D stop-motion movie "ParaNorman" earned $14 million landing on the third place.

Coming in fourth is the comedy flick "The Campaign," grossing 13.38 million. Musical drama "Sparkle" is fifth with $12 million.

Box Office Results: 'Dark Knight Rises' Headed For Record $160m Opening Amid Tragedy

Box office reports will not be released by Hollywood studios until Monday out of respect for the victims of the horrific Colorado shooting.

But estimates say "The Dark Knight Rises" is set for a record $160 million 3-day opening in the U.S., surpassing "The Dark Knight's" P158.4 million in 2008 and taking the title for the most successful debut in 2D movie history. This is if traffic won't drop off dramatically on Sunday.

Citing "insiders with access to theaters," HollywoodReporter reports that the new Batman movie "easily topped the Friday box office with a gross in the $76 million to $77 million range -- the third best opening Friday of all time after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2 ($91.1 million) and The Avengers ($80.8 million)," which were both shown in 3D.

Warner Brothers announced Friday that it would forgo the usual revenue reports until Monday out of respect for the victims and their families in the shooting that killed 12 and wounded 58 at the screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" earlier in the day.  On Saturday, studios Sony, Fox, Disney, Universal, Fox and Lionsgate said they will join Warner Bros in withholding their box-office numbers for the weekend.

Before the tragedy, pre-release audience surveys had indicated that the film would likely collect between $180 million and $200 million during its first weekend in theaters.
