The coronation night of the 2012 Miss World will be held tonight, August 18, 2012, at the Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. Miss World 2011 winner Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela will crown her successor at the end of the event.

There are 116 candidates vying for the coveted title this year, marking the biggest turnout in the pageant's history.

For nearly a month now, the contestants have been rehearsing for the big night and competing in several challenge events.

The first Miss World winner was Kiki Hakansson of Sweden, while Hollywood actress Halle Berry was a finalist in 1986 and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai took the crown in 1994.

Venezuela has produced the most number of Miss World title holders, 6, while India and Great Britain claim five titles each.

The Miss World Philippines 2012 winners will be revealed at the pageant's grand coronation night held at the Manila Hotel on Sunday, June 24.

Twenty-five lovely Filipinas from across the archipelago are vying for the much-coveted title this year.

At the end of tonight's event, an ultimate winner will be crowned. She will be representing the Philippines in the international Miss World pageant to be held in China this August.

The 25 lovely candidates of the 2012 Miss World Philippines hit the runways last Tuesday, June 19 in Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati.

The event was a fast track competition where the "Best in Fashion Runway" award was given out. The award guarantees a candidate of a spot in the semi-finals. It eventually went to Candidate No. 16 Brenna Cassandra Gamboa of Laurel, Batangas.

The coronation night of the 2012 Miss Philippines Earth beauty pageant is currently being held at the Mall of Asia Centerstage in Pasay City.

From the 47 contestants, the Miss Philippines-Earth 2012 winner will be named tonight, as well as her runners-up. She will be representing the Philippines in the Miss Earth international finals later this year.

Miss International 2011 coronation night was successfully held Sunday evening at the Sichuan Opera Theatre, in Chengdu, China.

Out of this year's 67 candidates, Miss Ecuador María Fernanda Cornejo won the most coveted crown. Venezuela's Jessica Barboza was named 1st-runner up while Miss Mongolia Tugsuu Idersaikhan, Miss Puerto Rico Desiree Del Rio, Miss Panama Keity Mendieta were hailed 2nd-, 3rd- and 4th-runner-up, respectively.

Miss Venezuela Ivian Sarcos was crowned the winner of the Miss World 2011 pageant during a glittering final ceremony held at Earls Court Two in London, England on November 6, 2011.

“I believe that the next Miss World should be a woman of responsibility and reason," Sarcos said during the competition.

“I believe the woman should be committed to the organization and help people in need. Beauty with a heart," she added.

Twenty-two-year-old Sarcos is a Human Resources graduate who currently works for a broadcasting company. Coming from a big family with 12 siblings, Sarcos plans to promote and work with children in the future. She loves volleyball, mountaineering and trekking. She believes that "everything arrives when it should."

The 5'10'' beauty was raised by the nuns in a convent in Cojedes after orphaned by her parents at age 8.She had studied to become a nun before but did not pursue it.

There were 113 candidates from all over the world who joined this year's competition. The second place went to Miss Philippines Gwendoline Ruais while Amanda Vilanova of Puerto Rico came third.
