New Sesame Street Movie In The Works |
Twentieth Century Fox has acquired the film rights to Sesame Street to the make the third movie adaptation of the beloved children's TV show.
All your favorite Sesame Street characters will star in the movie including Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie.
Fox has reportedly tapped Joey Mazzarino, a longtime writer on the show, to write the movie's script while Shawn Levy will be its director and producer.
Sesame Street, created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett, premiered in 1969 and has been capturing hearts and educating kids ever since. More than 4,300 episodes have been aired since. As of 2009, Sesame Street has won 8 Grammy Awards and 118 Emmy Awards— more than any other television series.
There have been two Sesame Street movies that have been released, "Follow That Bird" in 1985 and "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland" in 1999.
