'Underworld' awakens at Ph box office

"Underworld: Awakening," the fourth installment of the "Underworld" series, dominated the Philippine box office during its first week in theaters in the country. The Kate Beckinsale-starrer film topped the local chart (January 18-25) with its Php37.9 million gross.

Another Hollywood film came in second, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" which earned Php10.5 million, followed closely by "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" with approximately Php10.2 million.

On its second week, the Star Cinema movie "A Mother's Story" starring Pokwang, took the 5th spot after raking in Php5.5 million. The drama film has now a total earnings of Php24.8 million.
