Angelo Castro Jr. dies of cancer at age 67

Angelo Castro Jr. succumbs to cancer
Veteran broadcast journalist and the main man of ABS-CBN News Channel's (ANC) "The World Tonight" Angelo Castro Jr. has passed away on Thursday, April 5. He was 67 years old.

Castro's death was confirmed by ANC on its official Twitter account.

"Angelo Castro Jr., veteran broadcast journalist and anchor of ANC's The World Tonight, has passed away. He was 67." @ANCalerts tweeted.

Update: According to an ANC TV report, Castro succumbed to lung cancer. He died at the St. Luke's Medical Center surrounded by family members.

"The World Tonight" is the country's longest-running English primetime newscast. Castro was its anchor since it resurrected in 1986. He, however, took a 2-year break because of his illness and returned to the show just last November. -NoypiStuff
