Essence Atkins is pregnant

Essence Atkins and husband Jaime Mendez are expecting their first child together. The Are We There Yet? actress, 39, isn't quite there yet - lame joke, I know - the baby is due on Christmas Day. They tell People Magazine, "Our gratitude is overwhelming to have found each other and adding a baby to our happy home is truly a dream come true. We are both elated and humbled by this amazing gift."

The couple met online and tied the knot in Pasdena, in 2009. They didn't say whether they are expecting a boy or a girl.
