I've made the life changing decision to start using those reusable, environmentally friendly shopping bags. Mainly, they look cool with their cute little pictures and don't slice lines into your hand when you have 3 tons of groceries to carry.. but also I have a zillion of them all over my home holding things like vacuum cleaner parts and ironically, plastic bags and I don't know what else to put in them anymore. So I guess I'll throw 'em in my vehicle for shop-ang from now on.
That is not the only advantage, Nerdsquad, they also tell a story about your personality to the shoppers around you as you all stand in line nonchalantly leering at what other people have in their carts and baskets while silently judging them to yourself. It's the best part about grocery shopping. "Oh.. you feed you children CORN DOGS for dinner, eh? *snicker* AND fruit gushers, huh? Don't see any REAL fruit in there, lady", you chuckle to yourself in the line while trying to cover up your chocolate chunk brownie madness with broccoli and tofu to 'balance' them/show off how healthful you REALLY are. "Take that, corn dog lady. Maybe you should take a lesson from ME sometime, eh? SEE THIS? ASPARAGUS. YEP. That's the kind of thing that IIIIII purchase."
The enviro bags also tell everyone where you've shopped, as you undoubtedly have a nice random selection. 'Toys r Us' polar bear shopping bag- CHECK. 'Loblaws' Fish print- Check, 'Play it again sports' logo CHECK. That is, unless you are one of those dreadful people who have shopping bags which correspond to the store they're in. Ugh. That's just creepy organized. What I'm saying here, friends, is that there is a whole new subject to silently judge people in stores about now! "OH MY, she has several envirobags from the liquor store... tsk, wonder if she's headed there next... Probably. *snicker* Don't see a single BOOKSTORE envirobag there... *judge judge*." So really, I can no longer see a disadvantage to using them.
But guess what, Dork Parade, an interesting tidbit that has come about on my journey in baby steps to not leave 5792387429349 tons of my own garbage on the earth after I leave it. Sometimes this stuff is actually easier or just as easy as not using them. Cloth diapers turned out to be pretty awesome AND easy AND cuter than average, so we'll see how the envirobag adventure goes. I'm SURE I'll keep you posted.
