August 20, 2012 Holiday Declared
August 20, 2012 will be a regular holiday in observance of a Muslim holiday which marks the end Ramadan, the Eid'l Fitr.

Malacañan released Proclamation No. 455, s. 2012 declaring the date as a regular holiday throughout the country.

"Whereas, to promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr; and wheares, in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Monday, 20 August 2012, as a regular holiday throughout the country," reads the proclamation which was signed by President Benigno S. Aguino III.

A "4-day weekend" awaits Noypis this week since August 20 falls on a Monday and August 21 will also be a special non-working holiday ("Ninoy Aquino Day").
