Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars marry

Filmmaker Sofia Coppola and Phoenix frontoman Thomas Mars were married Saturday in Bernalda, Italy, at the family villa in the hometown of her grandparents.


Sofia's father Francis Ford Coppola walked her down the aisle during the evening ceremony at Palazzo Margherita. Eighty guests saw the bride walk down the aisle in a lavender gown, designed by Azzedine Alaïa.

Sofia, 40, and Thomas, 34, made their engagement public last May. The couple has two daughter, 4 1/2-year old Romy and 15-month old Cosima.

This is Sofia's second marriage, from 1999 to 2003 she was married to director Spike Jonze.
