Born On This Day- July 13th... Looking Good, Gentlemen!
On their birthdays, I present two men who show how to still turn heads & continue to do great work when you are over 60. Patrick Stewart has always been on my list of sexiest men. This Englishman has been working on stage, often with The Royal Shakespeare Company, for 50 years. His film work is so diverse... he has played the flomboyant Sterling in the film Jeffrey & Henry in The Lion In Winter. Stewart played a gay Seattle socialite who mistakes Frasier Crane as possible boyfriend material in the final season of Frasier. He has starred in some little project called Star Trek: The Next Generation & its film spin-offs & a little franchise called X-Men. This spring he appeared opposite my idol- Ian McKellen in Waiting For Godot in London. They had only appeared on stage together one other time, but they became very good friends while hanging out on the set of the X-Men films. Patrick Stewart turns 69 today.
Harrison Ford has been named #1 in "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list by Empire Magazine. He was in a bunch of 70s films with Star Wars in the title. He seems to enjoy working in franchise pictures with 4 Indiana Jones films & two turns as Jack Ryan. My favorite performances by Mr. Ford are his work in Witness, Blade Runner & The Fugitive. His films have grossed more than $6 billion, making him the 3rd highest grossing box office star. Harrison Ford is an accomplished carpenter & cabinet maker. To me, he is the essence of "movie star". He turns 67 today.
